Hi everyone, I'm Louise, a New Zealand born multidisciplinary artist living in France. I use up all my spare time painting, that is when I'm not running around after my two little girls.
At college I didn't take art class because it clashed with mathematics, after this I spent many years believing that it was probably for the best, as everyone knows it's near impossible to make a living from being an artist. I began my career as a graphic designer based in Christchurch, New Zealand, thankful to have found a creative profession that would pay the bills, yet it was never quite creatively fulfilling enough and I longed for something more. At the end of 2015 I moved to France with my family and half a year later I came to realise that I needed to give myself permission to follow my desire to paint. I started painting and drawing every day and haven't stopped since. My works are abstract (most of the time), filled with beautiful colours, patterns and texture. I trust my intuition and strive to evoke emotions, images and memories to the conscious mind. I once read that abstraction, if sincere, reveals the unique expression of a single soul, and if successful connects the viewers pulse to it's own. I love this and have always felt it applies to my artworks. I'm now so fulfilled by my work and so happy I allowed myself to follow my dreams. |
